Planning an Early Literacy Road Trip?

Chances are you have a pretty good idea about what other libraries in your system are doing related to early literacy. Maybe you even have insight on a few other libraries around the state. However, what about a snapshot of what dozens of libraries are doing?

Two Wisconsin youth librarians have created two separate maps identifying libraries that offer 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten programs and Early Literacy Activity Areas. The maps have recently been updated to included recipients of Growing Wisconsin Reader mini-grants. Be sure to contact the map creator if you would like your library to be included.

Kathy Larson at the Bloomer Public Library created the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Google map.

Heide Piehler at the Shorewood Public Library created the Early Literacy Activity Spaces in Wisconsin Public Libraries Google map.

Whether you are planning a road trip to the Early Literacy Symposium in Stevens Point or just a car trip for work or with family, make a pit stop to see first-hand what early literacy looks like in libraries across the state.
