Sharing Early Literacy iPad Apps with Parents and Caregivers

Emily Lloyd, an associate librarian at Hennepin County Library in Minnesota, created a fabulous slideshow for teaching parents and caregivers how to identify and use iPad apps with prereaders.  All of the apps mentioned are free as of 1/28/14.  Lloyd's text and visuals convey how different apps relate to the five early literacy practices promoted by Every Child Read to Read.  Most importantly, she explains how "Thoughtfully-selected apps can supplement, not replace, the nondigital ways we write, read, play, sing, and talk together."

Check out the slideshare and think about offering an information session for parents and caregivers in your community.
